Originally from Frederick, Maryland, Alyssa Pheobus is an American artist who divides her time between New York and Lahore, Pakistan. She received a BA from Yale in 2004 and an MFA from Columbia in 2008. Her work has been shown widely in the United States, including solo exhibitions at Tracy Williams, Ltd. and Bellwether in New York, both in 2009. Her third solo exhibition is currently on view at Holster Projects in London.
Pheobus has been recognized with a number of awards, including a 2009 Fellowship in Printmaking, Drawing and Book Arts from the New York Foundation for the Arts, and has participated in residencies at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming, Dieu Donné in New York and the Yale Norfolk program in Connecticut. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Art in America, NYFA Current, Étapes and Tokion, among other publications, and she has taught at Columbia and guest lectured at New York University, the School of Visual Arts, Stony Brook University and the Christie's Education Program, New York.
